The Deacons of Cross Roads Presbyterian Church
Have you ever wondered what the Deacons of Cross Roads Presbyterian Church do to fulfill the ministry of Christ? According to The Book of Order, "The office of Deacon as set forth in Scripture is one of sympathy, witness, and service after the example of Christ. Persons of spiritual character, honest repute, of exemplary lives, brotherly and sisterly love, warm sympathies, and sound judgment should be chosen for this office" We serve God and our Church in many ways, including:
Greeting Cards: We send greeting cards to members of the congregation who are ill, having a special birthday, are in need of sympathy, or for other reasons.
Prayer Chain: We pray for people with concerns and in need of prayer.
Ministry Teams: We contact and visit shut-ins who are unable to travel to church.
We have sponsored a number of fund-raising events for mission, including the Craft Fair, the Cookie Walks, and the church cook books.
We participate with the Food Pantry Board to provide food and essentials for people in need.
Deacon's Brunch and Fellowship Hours;
We organize, prepare and serve a church-wide fellowship brunch and Fellowship Hours throughout the year.
Fourth Wiseman: We advertise, organize and gather names of children from Pittsburgh in need of Christmas gifts.
Flowers; We deliver flowers on Easter and Christmas, and we deliver weekly flowers to a shut in or person in need.
